Reading & Subscriptions

How do I subscribe to a series?

Click the "Subscribe" button on any series page. Subscribing is free and adds the series to your library. You'll see updates in your "Continue reading" section, and you can opt in to receive email notifications when new chapters are published.

What is early access and how does it work?

Some creators offer early access to new chapters for Inkstra+ members. Non-members can read these chapters after a 2-day delay from the scheduled release date. Early access is calculated from the chapter's scheduled release date, not when it was published.

How is my reading progress tracked?

When you're signed in, we track which chapters you've opened so we can show where you left off. This helps you continue reading across devices and helps creators understand reader engagement through anonymous, aggregated analytics.

Can I organize my reading with lists?

Yes! Inkstra+ members can create custom reading lists to organize series however they want—by genre, reading status, favorites, or any other system that works for you. Lists are a great way to keep track of everything you're reading.

Can I read on mobile devices?

Absolutely. Inkstra is fully responsive and works great on phones and tablets. Series can be published in webtoon (vertical scroll), manga (right-to-left), or comic (left-to-right) formats, and the reader adapts to your screen size automatically.

Inkstra+ Membership

What is Inkstra+ and what does it include?

Inkstra+ is an optional monthly membership that unlocks premium features. For readers, it includes: ad-free reading across all series, sharper page quality on all chapters, custom reading lists to organize your library, and early access to new chapters (when creators enable it). For creators, it provides priority support, faster chapter approvals, global analytics, smart scheduling tools, and eligibility for Inkstra+ spotlight features.

How much does Inkstra+ cost?

Inkstra+ is a monthly subscription. Current pricing is shown on the Inkstra+ page. Your subscription automatically renews each month unless you cancel. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime from your account settings.

How do I cancel my Inkstra+ subscription?

You can cancel anytime from the subscription management page. When you cancel, your membership remains active until the end of your current billing period. You won't be charged again unless you resubscribe.

How are payments processed?

All payments are securely processed through Stripe, a trusted third-party payment processor. We never store your full payment card numbers on our servers. For details about how we handle payment data, see our Privacy Policy.

What happens if my payment fails?

If a payment fails, we'll send you an email notification. Your Inkstra+ benefits will remain active for a grace period, but you'll need to update your payment method to continue your membership. You can update your payment method from the subscription management page.

NSFW Content & Age Restrictions

How does NSFW (18+) content work?

NSFW series and chapters are labeled as 18+ and hidden from non-authenticated users. To access them, you must be signed in, meet the age of majority in your region (typically 18+), and explicitly enable NSFW content in your account settings. This helps ensure age-appropriate content access.

Why do you need my birthdate?

We require your birthdate to verify you meet the age requirement for 18+ content and to comply with age-related content laws (like COPPA). Accounts that don't meet the age requirement cannot enable NSFW content. Users under 13 cannot create accounts on Inkstra.

What content is prohibited?

We prohibit sexualized depictions of minors, exploitative content, illegal material, and content that violates our safety policies. We may remove content and suspend accounts that violate our policies. For complete details, see our Terms of Service.

Email Notifications

What email notifications can I receive?

You can receive emails for: new chapters from series you're subscribed to, comment replies, payment issues, account security alerts, platform newsletters, and updates to our terms, privacy policy, or monetization terms. You can control all of these from your account settings.

How do I unsubscribe from emails?

Every email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also manage all your email preferences from the account page. You can opt out of marketing emails while still receiving important account and security notifications.

Will I get emails if I subscribe to a series?

When you subscribe to a series, you can choose whether to receive email notifications for new chapters. This preference is set per-series, and you can change it anytime. You'll also see a notice when subscribing that you may receive email updates.

For Creators

How do I start publishing on Inkstra?

Create an account, then go to the creator dashboard to set up your first series. You'll need to provide series details (title, description, genres, format), upload cover art, and then start adding chapters. Make sure to review our content guidelines and terms before publishing.

What formats can I publish in?

You can publish in three formats: webtoon (vertical scroll, best for mobile), manga (right-to-left reading), or comic (left-to-right reading). Choose the format that best fits your art style and reading experience.

Can I schedule chapter releases?

Yes! You can schedule chapters to publish at a specific date and time. Scheduled chapters become available to readers once the scheduled time has passed. Inkstra+ members may get early access to scheduled chapters (with a 2-day delay for non-members).

How do I monetize my series?

Creators 18+ can apply for monetization through the monetization dashboard. Once approved, you'll earn a share of ad revenue and Inkstra+ subscription revenue based on engagement. You'll need to meet eligibility requirements (minimum public series, chapters, and readers) and complete Stripe Connect onboarding for payouts. See our Monetization Terms for full details.

How are creator payouts calculated?

Creator payouts are based on an engagement-weighted algorithm that considers views, unique readers, likes, and comments. Revenue is split 70% to creators and 30% to the platform. Payouts are calculated monthly and sent automatically once you reach the $50 minimum threshold via Stripe Connect. See our Monetization Terms for complete details.

Can I use AI-generated content on Inkstra?

No. AI-generated content is not allowed on Inkstra. This includes art, panels, backgrounds, or visual elements created using generative AI tools (such as DALL-E, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, or similar). Content that has been substantially modified from AI-generated material but remains primarily AI-generated is also prohibited. Users who upload AI-generated content will have their content immediately removed, and accounts proven to use AI-generated content in published work will be permanently banned. Can I promote my series with ads?

Yes! Creators can purchase promo impression campaigns to promote their series in the reader. You can target specific genres and set your budget. You'll receive email notifications when your campaign is running low or has completed. Visit /author/promos to get started.

Who owns the rights to my work?

You retain full ownership of your original content. By uploading to Inkstra, you grant us the licenses needed to host, display, and distribute your work on the platform. You can remove your content at any time. For complete details, see our Terms of Service.

Safety, Moderation & Support

How do I report inappropriate content?

Use the report button on any series or chapter page if you encounter content that violates our policies (illegal content, harassment, mislabeled NSFW material, etc.). Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, and repeat or severe violations may result in content removal or account actions.

Legal & Policies

How will I know if the terms or privacy policy change?

We'll send you an email notification whenever we update our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or Monetization Terms. You can also review the current versions anytime at /terms, /privacy, and /terms/monetization. Continued use of Inkstra after updates constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

What is Inkstra's policy on copyright?

We respect intellectual property rights and comply with the DMCA. If you believe your copyright has been infringed, please contact us with a DMCA takedown notice. Creators are responsible for ensuring they have the rights to publish their content. See our Terms of Service for complete details.
