Ancient tales say that fallen stars (or spirits, or gods, depending who you ask) chose four mortal champions to achieve as much kleos as possible in a lifetime, such as through being a great king, fierce warrior, or sage priestess. Aylin, a student at the priory where nuns and monks are trained in writing, healing and combat, would rather live an easy life than chase glory. But she keeps finding herself getting pulled into a game even the stars didn't intend her to play.
